In search of the fault .. Commodore 64 black screen
9 June 2021Repair C128D
22 June 2021With this modification you will have inside your Game Gear Micro ALL the software of all 5 consoles available (including the "white" one with the various "Aleste").
The original modification must be done manually with numerous Linux commands but once done, simply replace an already modified partition (the nandd file) to the original one and that's it!
REQUIREMENTS
- A Game Gear Micro (any version / color)
– This bootkit tool to enable connection via PC to the console created by the dev cyanic
- The file called nandd already edited with all 5 console variants (you can't share it here, you have to find it yourself - without this file you can't make any changes)
- an FTP client capable of managing the SFTP connection (eg. Filezilla)
- I. drivers Zadig
METHOD
ENTER IN FEL MODE AND INSTALL THE DRIVERS
1 - Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries
2 - Look inside the compartment for a small hole in the corner on the inner left side:
3 - Press and hold the very small button located inside this hole
4 - Set the ignition switch to ON
5 - Connect the USB port - the console will now be in FEL Mode and Windows will find a new USB device (If you previously installed a driver for NES Mini this will be automatically recognized as such, that's fine too)
6 - Once the new device has been recognized, start the Zadig software and install the default option.
CONNECT TO THE CONSOLE
1 - Make sure that the console is in FEL Mode and that the drivers are installed
2 - Extract the bootkit archive to a folder of your choice
3 - Run the fel-boot.cmd file:
you will see a loading screen that will end like this:
4 - You are now connected and the console will be recognized by the system as an RNDIS device:
5 - Start Filezilla and set the value 169.254.215.100 as the address at the top left, then press the "Quickconnect" button on the right on the same line and select the item: sftp: //root@169.254.215.100 as indicated in the steps below:
(if the entry does not appear, the username is root and no password must be set)
6 - Now, in the box in the center on the right, go to the root of the device and select the \ dev folder as indicated in the image above
7 – MAKE A SECURITY BACKUP OF ALL FILES nand (nanda, nandb, nandc, nandd, nande, nandf, nandg, nendh); in this way you will have preserved the original console firmware (with the exception of the bootloader which in any case will never be touched)
8 - Drag & drop the nandd file in the lower right window (unfortunately it is not included in the archive and you have to find it yourself) and overwrite the original (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKUP THE ORIGINAL FILE !!!!)
9 - DONE! You can disconnect the console from the USB cable and turn it on, at start up you will see the selection menu of the various Game Gear Micro (black, white, blue, red, yellow):
By keeping the UP + 1 + 2 + START keys pressed for about 2 seconds, the following menu will appear:
1 = you go back to the menu for selecting the various colors
2 = exit the menu and go back to what you were doing
NOTE
Overwriting the nandd file is absolutely always reversible with its original version (SO MAKE A BACKUP FIRST !!!), simply redo the procedure and drag & drop with the original file instead of with the modified one.

Thank you for sharing selflessly.
I have all 5 colors of Game Gear Micro, How to make the nandd file include all of them?
Too many Linux commands, try to look for an already modified nandd on google / pastebin
Hi Andrea. I have searched all possible keywords including English and Italian on google / pastebin, but I still can't find the modified nandd. I'd appreciate it if you provide more clues on searching the nandd or other place I might find the file. Also, thanks for sharing modding information generously.

Hello
While you can't give links in this article, could you at least give us some vague hints on how to search for the nandd file?
Sembra non esistere da nessuna parte 🙁
Thank you
