History of an Amiga
This Amiga 600 had a problem of color shades tending to red and a general yellowing of the plastic, let's proceed immediately to fix it!
General cleaning
First you must proceed with the disassembly of the computer and clean all the plastics with a degreaser and if there are signs that do not go away, you can try with water and bicarbonate on the surface and rub !!
Once everything is clean and dry we move on to whitening, 30-volume oxygenated cream and away under the sun for 1-2 hours (depending on the sun and the state of yellowing, sometimes 4 hours are not enough). Remember to turn and spread the cream every 30min for even whitening and not to leave marks.
It is possible to add a little Vanish Oxy to speed up the process, but beware that it ruins the plastic if left too much or with colored plastics.
The cause of all evil ...
We often hear on the Internet and the capacitors and that the problem of everything is them ... It is not always so it is necessary to see if the model has capacitors subject to deterioration and in what state they are. The Amiga 600 is famous for having poor quality capacitors, in fact even visually in my medello some have swollen marks. To remove this type of smd capacitors it is sufficient to use tweezers and rotate them a little from one side and the other (slowly increasing the rotation) until the pins break. Thus we find the remaining foot soldered on the pad that we can remove with the soldering iron and some fresh tin, then we proceed to clean the pads with a desoldering braid and a little isopropyl alcohol.
Final test everything ok, and given the opportunity you can put a CF adapter and if you want more power even a Furia type accelerator card.
